The PATH we tread
We believe that it is only by reaching for the impossible that we discover new things and hence we intentionally do not put limit on aspirations. While we see the attainment of a goal very much as a series of steps up a ladder and set our sights firmly on the next rung, or possibly one beyond, we also prefer to aim high “go for gold”- approach.
We know that to reach this apparently unattainable goal we have to progress through a number of subsidiary stages, but with the sight firmly fixed on top. Of course when we choose “go for gold “ approach we do need some realistic assessment of our chances of reaching it, and if we don’t get there, recognize these odds, along with how far we have traveled. Rather than looking at the successes we have, we also look at how far we have to go, and avoid the trap of not getting the gold as evidence of failure, since this can be demoralizing and damaging to the organization.
At the same time we are flexible enough not to get totally fixed on one big out-of-reach goal. We strive to see alternative routes, follow interesting options, challenges and sidelines as they occur, possibly changing direction altogether if we are frequently resetting and thus revising our goals without losing sight of our overarching mission in the process.
We know where productivity-real and limitless productivity-comes from. It comes from challenged, empowered, excited, rewarded teams of people. It comes from engaging every single mind in the organization… making everyone part of the action and allow everyone to have a voice-a role-in the success of the enterprise. Thus the path we tread puts emphasis on a brilliant team of individuals rather than a team of brilliant individuals.
